Arne Slot’s Liverpool has set its sights on Assan Ouedraogo, the talented midfield sensation from RB Leipzig, as the summer transfer window approaches. The former FC Schalke 04 player has made significant strides since joining Leipzig, showcasing his skills and earning a spot in the German national team, which has piqued the interest of clubs across Europe.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Liverpool aims to secure Ouedraogo’s services to strengthen their squad after a disappointing 2025/26 campaign. The Dutch manager believes the German international is an ideal fit for his tactical setup and long-term project.

Despite a knee injury sidelining him for much of the current season, the 20-year-old has still managed to contribute seven goals in just over 800 minutes of play. He primarily excels as a central midfielder but can also adapt to the number ten role or even play on the left flank.

Liverpool is preparing a bid of €40 million for Ouedraogo; however, Leipzig has indicated that this amount is insufficient. With key players like Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, and Wataru Endo potentially leaving, the Reds have prioritized Ouedraogo as a crucial target. Leipzig holds a firm stance on his future, demanding between €80-100 million due to his contract running until 2029.

Liverpool's prior successful transfers with Leipzig, including Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate, and Dominik Szoboszlai, may play a crucial role in negotiations.
