Curtis Jones is on the brink of concluding his 16-year tenure with Liverpool after the club secured an agreement with Inter Milan for the England midfielder. The 25-year-old is anticipated to travel to Italy on Thursday for medical examinations, paving the way for his transfer to the Serie A champions.

Jones, entering the final year of his contract with Liverpool, faced no extension agreement, leading the club to opt for a sale rather than risking a free departure next year.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is valued at approximately €35 million (£30m), with Jones cleared for medical tests prior to finalizing the transfer. Romano confirmed that Curtis Jones will fly to Milan on Thursday after the clubs finalized the agreement on Wednesday.

This agreement marks the conclusion of extensive negotiations:

• Inter Milan initially offered €30m rising to €35m.
• Liverpool had initially set Jones' value closer to €40m.
• Earlier in the summer, Inter had a €25m offer rejected.

Having been with Liverpool since the age of nine and amassing over 200 senior appearances, Jones has struggled to secure a consistent starting position. Liverpool's decision to sell appears financially sound, as receiving £30m now is preferable to the risk of losing a valuable homegrown talent for free next summer.

For Jones, moving to Inter could provide the regular playing time that eluded him at Liverpool, where he faced competition from Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexis Mac Allister.

As for Liverpool, the club is not expected to sign a direct replacement, instead potentially entrusting Trey Nyoni with increased responsibility. Liverpool is prioritizing attacking reinforcements, notably targeting PSG winger Bradley Barcola.
