Liverpool's pursuit of Ismaila Sarr, the Crystal Palace attacker, during the summer transfer window has come under scrutiny. Despite being heavily linked with the Senegal International, journalist Alex Crook revealed that the club's seriousness about signing the 28-year-old was questionable.

Crook stated that while Liverpool engaged in a brief conversation with Crystal Palace and owner Steve Parish, the discussions were not extensive. He noted, "I also wonder how serious Liverpool were when it came to Ismaïla Sarr or Yankuba Minteh in particular; was this not just a ‘fishing expedition’ to smoke out PSG and ensure they secured the Bradley Barcola deal?"

The initial conversation with Crystal Palace was pretty short. So, I’m not sure that Liverpool really pushed the envelope in a way that he would have wanted them to. I don’t think this move to Liverpool was ever that realistic.”

Crook also highlighted that Liverpool's strategy seemed focused on pressuring PSG into selling Bradley Barcola. The club had offered a significant sum for the French international, but negotiations proved challenging. Ultimately, a deal was finalized closer to the transfer deadline after weeks of discussions.

Despite the lack of serious interest in Sarr and Minteh, Liverpool clearly requires more quality on the flanks, particularly on the right side. It remains uncertain if they will make any signings in January.
