Liverpool Football Club has taken a significant stand against ticket touting, issuing over 400 lifetime bans following the seizure of more than £1.2 million in assets linked to illegal ticket sales. This operation, executed in collaboration with Merseyside Police, targeted organized ticket touts and sought to disrupt the laundering of criminal proceeds from these illicit activities.

The police operation coincided with the club's own measures to combat ticket touting both online and at Anfield. As a result, 432 lifetime bans were imposed on individuals involved in ticket touting, alongside 115 indefinite suspensions.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Suffield praised the partnership, stating, "This is a fantastic example of partnership working between ourselves and Liverpool Football Club for the good of the fans and the general public. We will always take action to protect genuine fans who fall victim to touts when all they are trying to do is simply purchase tickets to support their team."

The seized assets have been allocated between Merseyside Police and the Home Office. Last year, it was reported that Liverpool had shut down 145,000 ticket accounts over two years as part of a vigilant crackdown on touting. In the previous season, the club analyzed nearly 700,000 ticket registrations, leading to the blocking or cancellation of 67,663 suspected fake accounts and ongoing investigations into an additional 121,379 accounts.

In the current season, 3,847 tickets were canceled due to suspicious purchase activity, with these tickets made available for genuine fans. The club has also implemented targeted stops on matchdays, averaging 300 per home game at Anfield and during away matches in both the Premier League and Europe.
