Liverpool has received advice to contemplate selling Cody Gakpo this summer if a lucrative offer materializes. Former Reds striker Emile Heskey believes new manager Andoni Iraola should evaluate Gakpo’s future, especially with transfer interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Netherlands international, now 27, has not entirely met expectations during his tenure at Anfield. With limited time left to enhance his performance, this summer might represent Liverpool’s final opportunity to secure a significant profit from Gakpo's sale.

Heskey stated, "I would consider selling Cody if a decent offer was on the table. When you’re coming in as a new manager, you have to cold-headedly look at your assets. He is an asset who holds significant market value that you could cash in on to fund your own vision."

Despite Gakpo’s decent showing during the World Cup, where he scored and created chances for Holland, his club performances have been inconsistent. Heskey noted, "At club level for Liverpool, it hasn’t consistently looked great for him. So yes, you’d definitely have to consider a serious offer."

Gakpo has netted 50 goals in 180 games for Liverpool, indicating he hasn't been a total failure, but there’s potential for improvement. However, with the departures of Luis Diaz last year and Mohamed Salah this summer, along with Hugo Ekitike sidelined due to injury, Liverpool faces a dilemma in potentially losing another key attacking player.
