Martin Kaymer has raised concerns about the viability of the LIV Golf Team Championship season finale, marking another setback for the struggling Saudi-backed series. The uncertainty follows the decision by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia to withdraw its financial support by the end of the year, having already invested nearly £4 billion since 2021.

Chief Executive Scot O’Neil is actively seeking £260 million in new funding. During a meeting with team captains at the LIV event in Staffordshire, Kaymer expressed that the news from O’Neil was not particularly positive. He stated:

• “I know that Indianapolis (the final individual event) is most likely happening.”
• “Michigan is highly unlikely.”
• “It didn’t look good.”

Kaymer noted the desire for more clarity regarding the future of the league, saying, “We were hoping for a bit more information... Unfortunately, even Scott, he can’t tell us because he doesn’t know.” He emphasized that the league's fate hinges on the decisions of potential investors, stating, “If those investors decide to pull out then we don’t play golf next year on LIV Golf.”

Adding to the turmoil, the Asian Tour, which previously partnered with LIV, announced a strategic alliance with the PGA and DP World Tours, further complicating LIV’s position in the competitive golf landscape. LIV Golf has yet to respond to Kaymer’s statements.
