Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy emphasized that women's footballers should not face repercussions from a potential boycott of the Under-20 Women's World Cup. This statement comes as hosts Poland reported that they have not received any notifications regarding withdrawals from European teams, despite the ongoing tensions within Uefa.

Uefa and its 55 member nations have threatened to boycott Fifa competitions due to President Gianni Infantino's controversial plan to sell stakes in the World Cup. The tournament, scheduled to take place from September 5-27, features several notable Uefa nations, including England, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and France.

The Polish Football Association (PZPN) stated to BBC Sport that it has not yet received any information about potential team withdrawals. They expressed optimism that the situation would be resolved quickly, allowing young players to showcase their talents.

The PZPN remarked:

Our priority remains to ensure the best possible conditions for the competition and for all participating teams. For many of these young players, this tournament represents an important milestone in their sporting careers.

Last week, the French Football Federation (FFF) confirmed its intention to participate in the U20 World Cup. Additionally, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) indicated that their Under-20 team is adhering to the planned program, including a friendly match against England later this week.
