Lewis Hamilton has urged his Ferrari team to fully back his bid for the Formula One world championship, warning that his chances are dwindling with each race. Currently trailing Kimi Antonelli, the championship leader, by 59 points, Hamilton acknowledges that time is running out with 11 races left in the season.

Having qualified fifth for the Italian Grand Prix, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc, who stands 87 points off the lead, Hamilton emphasized the need for Ferrari to prioritize his title challenge. "Yeah, there’s light at the end of the tunnel, but it’s getting dimmer the further we get through," he stated. He commended the team for their ongoing upgrades but stressed the importance of results on race day.

Hamilton expressed frustration over the qualifying session, particularly during Q2, where he struggled for pace and questioned Ferrari's strategy in attempting to provide both drivers with a tow. "I don’t really fully understand why we were lacking so much pace in Q2… I think at the end, the team was solely focused on trying to get an equal tow for each driver and we just stumbled."

On the race's starting grid, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly secured a remarkable pole position, with Mercedes’ George Russell in second place, both drivers in a strong position to capitalize on Hamilton's current points deficit. Hamilton noted, "We’re at a point in the year where 59 points is a huge deficit to recover from, especially when Mercedes continue to be the leaders in speed. So yeah, we do have to work as a team."

As the race approaches, Hamilton and Leclerc will begin from third and fourth respectively, following Oscar Piastri’s three-place grid penalty.
