The incident occurred when Hamilton was given the green light to leave the pit box, resulting in his right-front tyre hitting the mechanic, who was adjusting the front wing and briefly fell to his knees. Fortunately, the mechanic was unharmed, and Hamilton promptly stopped to check on him.

The stewards reviewed the incident post-race, concluding that while the release was unsafe, Hamilton faced no sporting penalties. He maintained his fourth-place finish, which allowed him to move into second place in the Drivers' Championship, trailing Kimi Antonelli by 45 points.

Reflecting on the incident, Hamilton recalled a similar situation from the 2018 Bahrain Grand Prix, where a mechanic suffered a severe injury. He stated, "My heart really sank for a second" upon witnessing the mechanic in front of his car. Hamilton emphasized that he felt the team bore responsibility, noting, "You're looking over here [at the lights], you're not looking over there."

The pit stop delay stemmed from a five-second penalty Hamilton incurred for a collision with George Russell earlier in the race. Hamilton took full responsibility for his performance, acknowledging his crash during qualifying as a factor in his starting position and race strategy. Despite the setbacks, he praised the team's efforts, stating, "We could have been challenging for the win." Hamilton remains focused on improving the car's performance as the season progresses.
