Having previously claimed his first Grand Prix victory for Ferrari in Barcelona, Hamilton faced a setback in Austria due to engine performance issues. However, he bounced back, stating, "We're ahead of a Mercedes and the Red Bull, they have so much power these guys." He acknowledged the challenge posed by the dominant teams but expressed pride in his team's perseverance.

Hamilton's confidence grew as he reflected on his performance, believing he could fend off Antonelli and Max Verstappen, who qualified third. He stated, "I think our pace was good," and emphasized the importance of starting from the front row.
