Leeds United has confirmed a £34.1m agreement with Italian club Sassuolo for defender Tarik Muharemovic. The 23-year-old centre-back has yet to finalize personal terms or undergo a medical examination, with interest from other Premier League clubs complicating the situation.

Should Muharemovic choose to join Leeds United, he would become manager Daniel Farke's second signing this summer, following the free transfer of attacker Harry Wilson from Fulham. The signing would also serve as a direct replacement for Pascal Struijk, who transferred to Brighton for £20m in June.

Muharemovic has represented Bosnia-Herzegovina three times at the World Cup, including participation in the last-32 match against co-hosts the United States, where he was involved in a controversial incident leading to the sending off of Folarin Balogun. Notably, Balogun's suspension was later lifted due to intervention from US President Donald Trump and White House officials.

Born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Muharemovic began his career in Austrian football with Wolfsberger in 2021. After a stint at Juventus, where he did not make a first-team appearance, he was sold to Sassuolo in 2025 following a successful loan spell. Reports indicate that Juventus will receive 50% of the transfer fee due to a clause in the initial sale agreement.
