LeBron James is set to embark on a record-extending 24th NBA season with a different team, following the confirmation that he will not return to the Los Angeles Lakers. A source close to James revealed to the Associated Press that the 41-year-old superstar will conclude his eight-year tenure with the Lakers, marking the end of one of the most iconic player-team partnerships in NBA history.

James can officially engage with other franchises starting at 11 PM UK time on Tuesday, coinciding with the opening of the league's free agency period. However, he cannot finalize a contract until the offseason moratorium lifts on July 6.

Among the teams vying for his talent, the Golden State Warriors emerge as a compelling option. The Warriors recently created additional roster flexibility by opting not to exercise Draymond Green's £20.1m ($27.6m) option for the upcoming season. Green commented on his decision, emphasizing his willingness to collaborate with the organization, stating, "I've always taken the approach of working with the organisation. I've been in one place for 14 years. It's more of a family to me than anything."

This strategic move could potentially attract James to Golden State, where he has established relationships with Green, Stephen Curry, and head coach Steve Kerr. Throughout his career, James has faced the Warriors in four consecutive NBA Finals during his stint with Cleveland.
