Lando Norris expressed disappointment with McLaren's performance during the British Grand Prix, despite securing a commendable fourth place. Reflecting on the race, Norris described their pace as "pretty shocking" and emphasized the need for significant improvements.

After a year marked by a one-two finish at Silverstone, McLaren found themselves trailing behind Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull during the weekend's events. Norris managed to clinch third in the Saturday Sprint but finished fourth in the main race, benefiting from late issues faced by Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen.

Norris stated, "The results have been pretty amazing - I've been happy with the P3 [in the Sprint] and the P4 [in the Grand Prix]. On the contrary, the pace was pretty shocking."

Despite the solid finishes, he noted, "We have a hell of a lot to improve."

In the Constructors' Championship, McLaren sits 154 points behind leaders Mercedes, while Norris trails Antonelli by 82 points in the drivers' standings. Oscar Piastri faced his own challenges, finishing 11th after a pit stop due to an early incident with Liam Lawson.

Andrea Stella, McLaren's team principal, highlighted the performance gap, estimating McLaren needs to close a half-second deficit to catch up with Ferrari and Mercedes, stating, "Overall, the race confirmed that our performance was in line with qualifying."

Stella pointed out that being out of sync with upgrades is a major issue, along with the low grip conditions at Silverstone affecting car predictability. He acknowledged the need to optimize the power unit further to enhance performance.

As McLaren navigates these challenges, the team remains focused on addressing the critical areas for improvement.
