Lando Norris, the reigning Formula One world champion, has secured a multi-year deal with McLaren that extends his commitment to the team until at least 2030. Norris, who refers to McLaren as his “second family,” expressed his desire to spend his entire career with the team, emphasizing that leaving was never an option for him despite interest from other teams.

Norris, 26, made his F1 debut with McLaren in 2019 and has been a key figure in the team's resurgence. He highlighted the ease of his decision, stating, “It really was the easiest decision I’ve had to make in my career so far.” He is determined to remain loyal to McLaren, even during challenging seasons, noting, “There’s no thought comes to my head of: ‘Was this the right decision or not?’”

Key milestones in Norris's career with McLaren include:

Despite a tough start to the current season due to new regulations, Norris's recent victories at Zandvoort and the Hungaroring demonstrate McLaren's resurgence.

During an event at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Norris received one of the MCL39 cars he drove to his title win as part of the contract deal. He emphasized the importance of the team environment and the relationships he has built: “People is the most important thing for me.”

While specific financial details of his contract remain undisclosed, Norris acknowledged that his earnings do not compare to those of Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen. He stated, “It’s certainly not close to the level of Lewis or Max... I believe I can fight against them whenever I need to.”

Andrea Stella, McLaren's team principal, praised Norris as an exceptional driver and human being, reinforcing the significance of this contract extension in maintaining the team’s direction.
