The negotiations have progressed, with Juventus lowering their initial asking price from €28 million to a range of €22–25 million, including bonuses. This adjustment aims to expedite a move that both clubs are eager to finalize. Although Nico returned to Turin after his loan, both he and Simeone expressed a desire for continuity in Madrid.

The automatic purchase obligation did not activate due to an injury that left Nico short of the required appearances. Nonetheless, both parties are motivated to reach a final agreement. Recent reports indicate that Nico's market value is around €22 million, and the gap between clubs has narrowed from Juventus' previous firm stance of €30 million.

Juventus’ shift indicates a willingness to compromise, recognizing that completing the sale is preferable to prolonged negotiations. Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid is prioritizing other signings, such as a new centre-forward and a central defender, but has not abandoned the operation for Nico.
