Super League's all-time leading try-scorer Josh Charnley made a memorable statement during a recent match by celebrating a try against St Helens with a mock-up of a contract, announcing his extension with Leigh Leopards.

Charnley scored his 281st Super League try, opening the scoring in the fixture on Friday. Shortly after, Leigh Leopards confirmed that the 35-year-old winger will continue to play through the 2027 campaign.

Reflecting on his decision, Charnley stated:

"At the beginning of the year, I spoke to my family and said this might be my last, but coming into the year, I got my body right... I'm happy to be staying at this club and I'm grateful for the opportunity they've given me."

He expressed his enthusiasm about remaining with the club, emphasizing its potential for growth:

"It's a good club to be at - I speak about it all the time. They're going places and I'm glad to still be a part of it."
