Leinster has officially confirmed the return of Joey Carbery, the Ireland international fly-half, ahead of the 2026-27 season. Carbery, who boasts 37 Ireland caps, has spent the last two seasons with Bordeaux-Begles in France, where he celebrated two Investec Champions Cup titles.

The 30-year-old, born in New Zealand, progressed through the Leinster academy and made 37 senior appearances during his initial tenure. During that period, he played a pivotal role in helping the province secure a Pro14 and Champions Cup double in 2018. He later transferred to Munster, contributing to their triumph in the United Rugby Championship title in 2023.

Head coach Leo Cullen welcomed Carbery back, stating, "We are delighted to welcome Joey back to the club. He and his family have been huge contributors to the province over many years, and it certainly feels like a homecoming for Joey. Carbery's return comes on the heels of Ciaran Frawley's departure to Connacht, marking a significant shift for the squad.
