West Ham United has officially signed striker Joel Piroe from Leeds United on a season-long loan, featuring an obligation to buy the player in the summer of 2027.

The 27-year-old forward boasts an impressive record in the Championship, netting 73 goals over four seasons, first with Swansea City and later with Leeds United, where he emerged as the club's top scorer during the 2024-25 season, contributing significantly to their title win.

Despite his past success, Piroe struggled in the Premier League last season, failing to score in 16 appearances. Reflecting on his move, Piroe stated, "I think it's a good opportunity for me to show what I've learned and how I've grown as a football player over the years."

Originally from the Netherlands, Piroe is now a Suriname international and has previously played for PSV Eindhoven, alongside a loan stint at Sparta Rotterdam before making his mark in England's second tier.

West Ham has yet to disclose the specifics of the transfer fee related to his future move in 2027, nor the details of his proposed contract length. With this acquisition, Piroe becomes West Ham's fifth permanent signing of the summer transfer window, joining Keiber Lamadrid, Joel Veltman, Manor Solomon, and Arne Engels.
