James Maddison has declared he has "so much more to give" to Tottenham Hotspur after marking his first start in nearly 18 months with a stunning goal, propelling Spurs to their first Premier League win of the season against Coventry City with a score of 3-1. Maddison opened the scoring early with a curling strike, setting the tone for a match that lifted Spurs off the bottom of the table.

Having returned from an ACL injury last season, Maddison has faced several setbacks that delayed his full comeback. His statements reflect a renewed confidence:

I'm 29 and I still have plenty of years left. I have self-belief and plenty of qualities that can help us in this league.

Spurs invested £334 million in new signings over the summer, yet struggled to find form. Maddison aimed to prove he was the missing piece when given his chance. He expressed optimism about his impact, stating, "I hoped... I just wanted to play well and to show my qualities."

Jamie Carragher, the Sky Sports pundit, noted Maddison's potential to be a key player for Tottenham, highlighting his charismatic presence in the dressing room. Carragher remarked, "He has that football arrogance that I like in players," suggesting Maddison's confidence could unify the team.

Maddison's goal, which came just 14 minutes into the match, was facilitated by Mohammed Kudus, marking a triumphant return to form. Carragher praised the moment, emphasizing the significance of Maddison's recovery journey.

In addition to Maddison's heroics, Dejan Kulusevski made an emotional return from injury, featuring in a competitive match for the first time in 526 days. Maddison expressed pride in Kulusevski's comeback, stating, "Those moments and those goals make it all worth it."

Overall, Maddison's performance not only secured a vital win for Spurs but also showcased his ability to link the various attacking talents within the squad. Maintaining his fitness will be essential for Tottenham as they look to build on this encouraging result.
