Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle has indicated that backup goalkeeper Nick Pope might still leave the club despite the transfer deadline passing. While the Magpies and other Premier League teams cannot make signings until January, several leagues globally continue to keep their transfer windows open.

Pope's status at St James' Park has become precarious as he has fallen down the goalkeeper hierarchy. In response to inquiries about Pope's future, Jaissle revealed that discussions regarding his and other players' situations are ongoing.

Jaissle stated:

"Yeah, there are a couple of countries where there are still options that players can move to. I had a clear conversation with Nick already a couple of weeks ago about his position here in the club, and to make a move that’s not only a club decision, it’s also a decision of the players, and often also from an agent."

He emphasized the complexity of transfer decisions, noting the involvement of multiple parties:

"So there are many, many parts involved usually in deals. So we need to see. But for now, he’s a member of the squad, and I really appreciate him and what he did for the club already, and how he’s dealing with the situation right now."

Despite his reduced role, Pope remains a capable goalkeeper who could be a regular starter for many top teams worldwide. Recent reports from Read Newcastle highlighted links to Ipswich Town and Celtic, although those transfers did not materialize.
