Substitute Jacob Ramsey scored a crucial late equalizer as Newcastle United came from 2-0 down to secure a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth, preserving Matthias Jaissle’s unbeaten start on Tyneside.

Marcus Tavernier opened the scoring for Bournemouth in the ninth minute, capitalizing on a loose ball after a deflected shot from Alex Scott. Malick Thiaw then inadvertently deflected a shot into his own net, putting Bournemouth firmly in command.

However, Harvey Barnes quickly halved the deficit for Newcastle less than two minutes later, curling a shot beyond Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic after receiving the ball from Lewis Hall.

Despite Newcastle's resurgence, Bournemouth appeared comfortable until late in the game. The hosts had been sloppy defensively, allowing Evanilson and Tavernier to squander several opportunities, which could have extended Bournemouth's lead.

As the match approached its conclusion, Jaissle introduced Ramsey, who made an immediate impact. In the 88th minute, following a scramble in the box, Ramsey coolly side-footed home, marking Newcastle’s second shot on target of the game.

Bournemouth remains unbeaten in nine Premier League matches against Newcastle but has not secured a win in three matches this season. With four of the five goals they conceded this season coming after the 80th minute, the visitors' late-game vulnerabilities were once again evident. Both teams ultimately settled for a draw, with Newcastle still unable to overcome their hoodoo against Bournemouth, who last lost to them in July 2020.
