Everton has successfully signed Jack Grealish on a season-long loan from Manchester City, marking a significant addition to their squad. However, the club faced disappointment as they missed out on Joshua Zirkzee, who will remain at Manchester United.

Grealish, 30, previously spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Everton, where he made 20 appearances before suffering a season-ending foot injury in January. Initially linked with various clubs, including his boyhood team Aston Villa, Grealish chose to reunite with manager David Moyes on Merseyside.

Reflecting on his return, Grealish expressed, "I think I'm at my best at everything in life, not just football, when I feel loved. That's what the manager has given me, what my teammates have given me and especially what the fans have given me."

During his previous stint at Everton, Grealish scored twice and provided six assists, even earning the Premier League Player of the Month for August. He returned to action in Manchester City's Community Shield defeat against Arsenal on 16 August.

In transfer news, Everton aimed to finalize a deal for Zirkzee on deadline day after Beto moved to Fiorentina. The Toffees first targeted Tammy Abraham, but he opted to stay at Aston Villa. Additionally, Folarin Balogun from Monaco was a top target, with a £40m deal in place, but medical issues arose on deadline day.

Everton also agreed to a £3m deal for Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Lyon. Meanwhile, right-back Nathan Patterson has completed his permanent transfer to Torino.
