Ferrari has officially confirmed that Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will benefit from an engine upgrade at the upcoming Italian Grand Prix this weekend in Monza. This upgrade marks Ferrari's second enhancement of the power unit this season, following the FIA's grant of two development opportunities.

Under the new 2026 power unit regulations, engine manufacturers can implement upgrades if they fall behind in internal combustion engine performance. After an initial review this year, Ferrari was found to be over four percent behind the benchmark set by Red Bull.

Ferrari previously introduced an engine upgrade during the Austrian Grand Prix in June and will deploy the second upgrade for both cars at their home race. This will be the fourth engine for Hamilton and Leclerc this season, just before they risk incurring grid penalties.

Ferrari's team principal, Frederic Vasseur, remarked, "On the performance side, we are introducing an updated power unit as part of the development opportunities available under ADUO. It represents a step in the right direction and this year is very much about marginal gains. Monza is a demanding circuit and the field is extremely close, and our priority will be to execute every aspect of the weekend as well as possible, from Friday onwards. We want to draw extra motivation from the passion of our home crowd and give our Tifosi a strong weekend."
