Leclerc clocked a time of 1:23.008s, finishing 0.173s ahead of Hamilton, while George Russell from Mercedes secured third place, just a tenth behind.

Kimi Antonelli, the world championship leader, faced a setback as he will start from the back of the grid in Sunday's race due to exceeding his engine parts allowance. Despite this, he managed to place fifth in the session.
