Reflecting on his achievement, Gasly stated, "It's been nine years in Formula 1... it's not every time we get a car to fight for pole position. Today it was the case, and I'm really, really happy." This pole marks a significant comeback for Gasly, who last won a race at Monza six years ago and views this opportunity as a chance to rectify the perceived injustice from Monaco.

Gasly's anger over the reinstated penalties fueled his performance, as he produced one of the best laps of his career, despite the emotional toll of the situation. Alpine managing director Steve Nielsen echoed this sentiment, noting how the team's morale shifted dramatically after the Monaco ruling.

Gasly's pole position puts him in a prime spot for the race, especially with George Russell, who will start alongside him, acknowledging Gasly's speed in qualifying. Russell remarked on their pre-qualifying chess match, humorously noting Gasly's victory in both the game and the pole.
