Charley Hull, Lottie Woad, and Georgia Hall faced tough conditions at the ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open, with each finishing their rounds below par. In contrast, Jenny Shin and Lauren Coughlin emerged as co-leaders after both shot impressive six-under par 66s at Dundonald Links on Thursday.

A Lim Kim from South Korea followed closely at five under par, while Lisa Pettersson of Sweden ended at four under. Anna Nordqvist, the Solheim Cup captain, showcased her skills with a two-under par round, but two late bogeys kept her from joining Pettersson on the leaderboard.

The day proved challenging, especially as the wind intensified in the afternoon. Charley Hull struggled significantly, finishing at six over par after a quadruple bogey on the fifth hole. Her round started poorly, and despite some efforts to recover, she couldn't regain her footing.

Lottie Woad, the defending champion, also found it tough, carding a two-over par 74. She noted the challenging pin placements and strong winds as significant factors in her performance.

Nelly Korda managed to fight back to level par, ending her round with a birdie on the 18th after a rocky front nine. Meanwhile, Georgia Hall had a particularly difficult day, finishing at 10 over par after a quintuple bogey on the 14th hole.

Lauren Coughlin, the 2024 champion, thrived despite the conditions, making eight birdies and expressing satisfaction with her solid play. "It was pretty difficult out there," she remarked, highlighting the challenges presented by the firm course conditions.
