Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr will require time to process the collapse of his proposed move to Liverpool, according to head coach Pierre Sage. The Senegalese attacker, who was the club's top scorer last season, had been linked with a transfer to Anfield late in the window but ultimately remained at Selhurst Park.

Sage acknowledged the emotional impact of the situation, stating, "He has to digest for sure because it's a dream for a lot of players to play with this kind of club (Liverpool)." He emphasized that while Sarr had a significant opportunity, it did not materialize. Sage added, "If he wants to continue, you have to have a good season with us as he did last year. We know he needs time."

Currently, Sarr, 28, has yet to make an appearance for Crystal Palace this season, having missed Premier League defeats against Everton and Manchester City due to a groin injury. He is expected to remain sidelined for the upcoming match against Fulham on Saturday at 15:00 BST.

Amid the uncertainty surrounding Sarr's future, Crystal Palace engaged in talks with Belgian forward Malick Fofana on deadline day. However, the 21-year-old opted to join Sunderland in a deal worth £30 million. Sage remarked, "We gave our best. At the end of the day, the player chose his criteria and I wish him and them the best because he's a good guy and a good player."
