Ipswich Town has officially signed Issa Diop, the Morocco defender, from Fulham for an undisclosed fee. The 29-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having played a crucial role in Morocco's journey to the quarter-finals of the World Cup, appearing in five matches.

Diop has inked a deal that extends until the summer of 2030, further solidifying Ipswich's defensive lineup as they continue their campaign in the Premier League after their promotion from the Championship last season.

With a notable background in the Premier League, Diop has competed in 173 top-flight games for both Fulham and West Ham. He expressed his enthusiasm about joining Ipswich, stating, "I'm excited to take the next step in my career at Ipswich Town. I know how big the club is and have enjoyed all of the conversations I have had before making the move. I know this is the right place for me."

His previous tenure includes:

• West Ham: Joined from Toulouse in 2018, contributing significantly over four seasons.
• Fulham: Transferred in a £15 million deal in 2022, where he made 96 appearances across all competitions but had limited starts last season.

Diop marks Ipswich's sixth signing of the summer, following the acquisition of Abdul Fatawu from Leicester for £20 million. Other notable signings include striker Emersonn for a club-record fee of about £26 million, along with permanent deals for Cedric Kipre and Chuba Akpom after successful loan spells, and goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen from FC Volendam.
