Ipswich Town has bolstered its squad ahead of the Premier League return by securing Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu from Leicester City for £20 million. The 22-year-old has committed to a five-year contract with the club after impressively netting 16 goals in 100 appearances for Leicester since his arrival from Sporting in 2023.

Fatawu's move to Portman Road coincides with the potential departure of fellow winger Jaden Philogene, who has garnered interest from clubs across Europe, including Bologna, Roma, and Benfica. Ipswich is open to facilitating Philogene's transfer should a suitable offer materialize.

This signing marks Ipswich's fifth acquisition of the summer, following the record-breaking signing of striker Emersonn from Toulouse for about £26 million. Additionally, defender Cedric Kipre and forward Chuba Akpom have joined on permanent deals after successful loan spells, while goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen has arrived from FC Volendam.

Fatawu expressed enthusiasm about joining the club, stating, "The ambition the club has is very exciting, and I'm looking forward to being a part of that as we prepare for the Premier League season." He acknowledged his previous encounters with Ipswich, noting the passionate support from the fans and his eagerness to showcase his skills for them.

Having been part of the Foxes squad that was relegated last season, Leicester now prepares for another campaign in the third tier of English football.
