Marc Johnson, the influential professional skateboarder, has passed away at the age of 49. His death was confirmed in a statement from longtime friend and fellow skateboarder Louie Barletta, shared by Thrasher Magazine. The cause of death remains undisclosed.

Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1977, Johnson overcame a challenging upbringing to become a prominent figure in skateboarding. After moving to California, he became synonymous with the San Jose skate scene and the Tilt Mode Army, a group known for its blend of technical street skating and humor. Their videos played a crucial role in establishing northern California as a center of skate culture in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Johnson was celebrated for his precision and creativity, emerging as a defining skater of his era. His career milestones include:

• Being named Skater of the Year by Thrasher Magazine in 2007
