Immanuel Feyi-Waboso recently recounted a troubling incident with a Bath fan at the Recreation Ground during Exeter Chiefs' thrilling 27-26 Gallagher Premiership play-off victory on June 13. The confrontation occurred as Feyi-Waboso celebrated in the stands, where the fan threw a drink at him, leading to a physical altercation.

Feyi-Waboso, who was recovering from a broken jaw, described the moment:

“One of the fans...chucked a drink over me, pushed me and threw the cup in my face.”
He humorously noted, “What can you do apart from rip his shirt?”

Despite the incident, Feyi-Waboso played in the Premiership final against Northampton, which ended in a disappointing 26-17 defeat. He emerged from the match with a wound over his left eye requiring stitches but remained optimistic about his health. He is set to participate in England's upcoming Tests against South Africa, Fiji, and Argentina next month.

The 23-year-old faced a race against time to recover after surgery on his jaw just three weeks prior. He stated, “We were taking it week by week...you never know that you’re going to get to the final.” Ultimately, he made the decision to play, knowing the risks involved:

“They said take a direct blow to the jaw and it’s likely the repair is going to fail, but you can try.”

Feyi-Waboso expressed mixed emotions after the final, feeling “gutted” and “disappointed” about the loss, especially after leading 17-14 before conceding two late tries. He added, “I feel like we could have done a lot better, but it is what it is.”
