Iliman Ndiaye has opened up about his decision to reject Tottenham Hotspur in favor of joining Manchester City, emphasizing his desire to play Champions League football as a crucial factor.

The Senegalese winger finalized a £60m move from Everton to Manchester City on deadline day, despite Tottenham being the first club to express interest. Spurs had planned a £60m transfer for Ndiaye while facilitating Richarlison's return to Everton for £35m. However, his choice shifted once City entered the fray.

Ndiaye stated, "For me it was always going to be City. I wanted Champions League and playing at one of the best teams in the world. I'm not saying Tottenham is not, but when Manchester City comes through, you don’t say no."

He further expressed his conviction about belonging at City, saying, "I've worked hard to get to this point. When I was speaking with my wife, I was telling her if I had to leave Everton it would be somewhere where I know I would be playing Champions League."

Moreover, Ndiaye revealed that he spoke with City manager Enzo Maresca prior to his move, noting Maresca's admiration for him. "As soon as they came through I had only one direction where I wanted to go," he added, reinforcing his commitment to the club.
