Iliman Ndiaye has officially joined Manchester City from Everton for a fee of £60m, after the FA Cup winners thwarted Tottenham’s attempts to acquire him. The Senegal forward expressed that this move is the “chance of a lifetime” as he signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.

The transfer fee could increase by an additional £5m in add-ons, pushing City’s summer spending beyond £300m. A potential £125m deal is also on the horizon, with City agreeing to terms with Chelsea for Enzo Fernandez.

Having rejected several contract offers from Everton, Ndiaye leaves the club after they signed him from Marseille for £15m two years ago. He stated, “I’ve worked my whole life for an opportunity like this,” emphasizing that City’s ambition aligns with his aspirations.

Ndiaye highlighted his playing style, saying, “I love to play with the ball on the floor in an attacking team that wants to score as many goals as possible,” which he believes makes him a perfect fit for City. He promised fans, “I will give my all to bring more success to this incredible club.”

City turned to Ndiaye after their attempt to sign Cody Gakpo from Liverpool was declined, while also seeking replacements for Savinho and Omar Marmoush, both of whom joined Tottenham.

City's director of football, Hugo Viana, praised Ndiaye’s talent and work ethic, stating, “I’ve no doubt City fans will get a thrill seeing him in action for us.”

In response, Everton is attempting to replace Ndiaye by pursuing Jack Grealish from City, amidst ongoing discussions with Tottenham regarding potential deals involving Richarlison. Notably, Ndiaye made history at Everton by scoring their last-ever goal at Goodison Park.
