Georgia Hunter Bell is gearing up to face the formidable trio of Audrey Werro, Keely Hodgkinson, and Femke Broeders-Bol in a highly anticipated 800m race in Zurich next week.

Having just secured the 1500m European Championship title on Sunday, alongside her Commonwealth 800m gold and 1500m world indoor crown, Bell is eager to test her mettle against these Birmingham medallists. "There is still a lot left of the season," she stated. "I haven’t done a paced 800m yet, but I am really excited to throw my hat into the ring."

The upcoming race is expected to be fast-paced, with some speculating it could challenge the world record of 1:53.28, set by Jarmila Kratochvilova in 1983. Audrey Werro has already clocked an impressive 1:53.80 this season, the third fastest in history.

Despite not yet achieving a personal best this year, Bell feels she is experiencing her best season due to her winning streak. "I keep on winning," she remarked.

In addition to the Zurich race, Bell has hinted at a potential "big five" clash with fellow competitors, including world champion Lilian Odira, possibly at the Ultimate Championships in Budapest next month, where a $150,000 (£110,000) prize awaits.

Bell acknowledged the competitive yet respectful atmosphere among the top female 800m runners, likening them to prizefighters who believe they can win against anyone. "If you are in the same race, everyone runs really fast. We’ll see how it goes," she concluded.
