Kimi Antonelli, the championship leader, will miss the first practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix on Friday. This absence is due to Formula 1's requirement that each team must field a rookie driver during at least two practice sessions per car throughout the season.

In Antonelli's case, he will be replaced by Frederik Vesti, the Mercedes reserve driver. Antonelli currently leads the Drivers' Championship with a 45-point advantage over Lewis Hamilton and 50 points over George Russell. Vesti previously drove Antonelli's car during the first practice at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix last month, ensuring Antonelli's participation in subsequent sessions remains unaffected.

Oscar Piastri of McLaren will also miss the session, as reigning Formula 2 champion Leonardo Fornaroli takes over his car. Fornaroli, who has been linked to a potential seat at Haas for next year, previously drove Lando Norris' car in Barcelona.

Additionally, Oliver Bearman from Haas will sit out the session with Ryo Hirakawa stepping in for his second outing of the season. Paul Aron is set for his third session as he drives Franco Colapinto's Alpine. Former IndyCar star Colton Herta will also participate by driving Valtteri Bottas' Cadillac.
