The club must sell players before the end of the month to avoid a potential six-point deduction due to an overspend of approximately £6m on their profit and sustainability (PSR) calculations.

This financial breach stems from promotion bonuses included in player contracts, which push Hull's losses beyond the £39m limit set for the past three seasons. If they had not secured promotion, they would not be facing this perilous situation.

Kieran Maguire, a football finance expert, noted that Hull's recent losses were relatively modest, supported by successful player sales. However, the promotion bonuses significantly impact the PSR calculations, potentially leading to a points penalty similar to past cases involving Nottingham Forest.

Hull owner Acun Ilicali acknowledged the urgency, stating, "We have overspent and we have to sell some players before 1 July." He expressed confidence in managing the situation, emphasizing that player values have increased since their promotion.

Key players, including Regan Slater and Charlie Hughes, are crucial to Hull's success and could attract interest from other clubs. The Tigers are also open to offers for several players, including David Akintola, Abu Kamara, and Kasey Palmer, to raise necessary funds.

The potential points deduction grid indicates that Hull could face a penalty of six points for their current overspend. Although they may argue that their situation stems from promotion bonuses rather than operational overspending, historical precedents suggest this defense may not be sufficient.
