This victory marks their first win since defeating India 1-0 in 2018, a tournament that saw them reach the final and earn a silver medal.

The match showcased goals from Sarah Hawkshaw, Roisin Upton, and Katie Mullan, who played crucial roles in clinching the narrow victory. The squad drew inspiration from the success of Irish athletes in other sports, particularly during the European Athletics and Swimming Championships, with Upton noting, “It’s been unbelievable.
