Wales captain Harry Wilson expresses his delight over head coach Craig Bellamy remaining with the national team after negotiations with Burnley fell through. The 29-year-old forward highlighted the positive impact Bellamy has had on his development since joining the team two years ago.

Wilson, who recently made a move to Leeds United, cited the strong presence of Welsh players at the club as a significant factor in his decision. He joins a talented group at Elland Road, including teammates Ethan Ampadu, Dan James, Joe Rodon, Karl Darlow, and Charlie Crew, along with promising Wales Under-19 defender Jayden Lienou.

In an interview with the BBC, Wilson stated, "Yes, obviously from a selfish point of view, I'm delighted that he stayed. I think since he's come in, he's definitely made me a better player."

As Bellamy prepares for the Nations League A campaign against Portugal, Denmark, and Norway in September, Wilson aims to step into a leadership role for both club and country. He acknowledged his responsibility as a senior player, especially after his recent performances, where he scored 10 goals in 36 Premier League appearances last season.

Reflecting on comparisons to former star Gareth Bale, Wilson remarked, "I don't think anyone in our country ever will live up to the standards and the quality that Bale showed... I feel that responsibility."

With a total of 69 caps and 17 goals for Wales, Wilson is eager to embrace his role and contribute significantly next season, stating, "I feel like I'm in the prime of my career. I feel really good. I feel really fit and strong."
