Great Britain kicked off their 2029 EuroBasket pre-qualifying campaign with a dominant 110-75 victory over Switzerland in Fribourg.

In this impressive win, Barcelona forward Tosan Evbuomwan and Boston Celtics centre Amari Williams made their debuts for the senior national team, helping GB secure the top spot in Group E. Evbuomwan, who recently transitioned from the NBA where he played 50 games, showcased his talent by scoring 21 points in 25 minutes. His NBA experience, combined with Williams’ contribution of eight points and seven rebounds in 19 minutes, bolstered Great Britain's performance.

Josh Uduje led the scoring for Great Britain with 24 points, as the team exhibited their strength from the beginning, winning each quarter. They took the first two quarters by six points each and maintained a commanding lead, ending the third quarter at 79-51.

This match marked GB's first competitive outing since their unsuccessful bid to qualify for the 2027 FIBA World Cup. With one eye on their upcoming match against Slovakia in Newcastle this Sunday, Evbuomwan and Williams were rested in the fourth quarter.

Looking ahead, Great Britain will face Switzerland again at home on November 29 and will travel to Slovakia on February 25, 2027. The winners of each pre-qualifying group will advance to the full qualifying rounds in 2028 and 2029. If GB does not finish at the top, they will enter a third round of pre-qualifying in 2027.
