The Commonwealth Games held this year have been hailed as "phenomenal" by Phil Batty, the chief executive of Glasgow 2026. Speaking to the Guardian, Batty emphasized that the revamped format, featuring only 10 sports compared to 19 in Birmingham 2022, demonstrated a sustainable model for future events, including the upcoming Games in Amdavad 2030.

Batty expressed pride in the collaboration between the city and the Commonwealth, stating, "What a phenomenal 11 days... These Games have not only exceeded expectations but have shown that major events can flex and evolve to be fit for purpose in the future."

Despite some criticisms regarding the absence of notable athletes like Keely Hodgkinson, Summer McIntosh, and Julien Alfred, and the limited TV visibility, Katie Sadleir, chief executive of Commonwealth Sport, echoed Batty's positive outlook. She remarked, "These Games have absolutely exceeded my expectations... People are talking about it on the streets."

Organizers noted a projected spend of £162.6m, significantly lower than the £543m for Glasgow 2014 and £680m for Birmingham 2022. Upgrades to venues like Scotstoun Stadium and Tollcross International Swimming Centre totaled £4.7m. TV viewership data indicated that 11.4 million tuned in Australia and nearly four million in Canada. However, UK viewership figures remained undisclosed.

The opening ceremony attracted about 800,000 viewers on Channel 5, a drop from five million in 2022. Sadleir defended the decision to partner with Warner Brothers Discovery over the BBC, citing a need for global reach and a younger demographic that prefers streaming over traditional TV. "We have a very young demographic that we are trying to attract... They are streaming and watching it on their phones and devices," she stated.
