Alpine has officially confirmed that Franco Colapinto will remain with the team for the 2027 Formula 1 season. This announcement puts to rest any uncertainty regarding the future of the 23-year-old Argentine driver, who stepped in to replace Jack Doohan after just six rounds of the 2025 season.

The confirmation solidifies Alpine's driver line-up for 2027, with Colapinto teaming up with Pierre Gasly, who is already signed to a long-term contract.

Alpine executive director Flavio Briatore expressed his satisfaction with the decision, stating:

We are very happy to confirm our driver line-up for 2027 with Franco staying as a race driver alongside Pierre. Having consistency is very important. Franco belongs in Formula 1 and he belongs at this team.

Despite not scoring points across the 18 rounds he drove in for Alpine last year, Colapinto has capitalized on the team's improved performance in 2026, achieving six top-10 finishes in the first 12 rounds. His standout performances included a seventh-place finish in the Miami Grand Prix and a sixth-place finish in Canada.

Colapinto expressed his gratitude, saying:

I am very pleased to remain with this team in 2027. We have a lot more milestones to reach and I know the team is working so hard in finding performance.

Colapinto's journey began in 2024 with Williams, where he made his F1 debut as a replacement for Logan Sargeant. After a successful run and subsequent sponsorship opportunities, he secured a seat with Alpine, initially as a reserve driver before taking over Doohan's seat.

With a promising future ahead, Colapinto and Gasly aim to elevate Alpine to compete and win at the forefront of Formula 1.
