Former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe faced legal repercussions after assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Amie Mayson, during a confrontation on December 14 in Lambeth, south London. The incident occurred after Ms. Mayson demanded repayment of money she claimed Ibe owed her, which escalated when she referred to him as a “druggy.”

In a hearing at Croydon Magistrates’ Court, it was revealed that Ibe reacted aggressively, telling her, “No, I’m going to be a prick,” before grabbing her arm and pulling a braid from her hair. The court heard that Ibe had approached Ms. Mayson with a bag containing drinks, snacks, and flowers, but the argument turned physical.

The magistrate, Brij Kalia, sentenced Ibe to a 12-month community order, requiring 80 hours of unpaid work and 27 days of rehabilitation activity. He also faced a fine totaling £764, which included a court surcharge and costs.

Ibe, who represented himself in court, expressed regret, stating, “I made a serious mistake” and acknowledged the need to take responsibility for his actions.

In her victim impact statement, Ms. Mayson described the emotional toll the assault had on her, saying it left her confidence and self-esteem “on the floor.” Despite her ongoing feelings of fear, she expressed a sense of compassion for Ibe, highlighting that forgiveness has been part of her healing process.

Ibe, who pleaded guilty to the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in July, had previously denied the accusations in March. The couple had been involved in an “on and off” relationship since late 2024. Ibe last played for Lokomotiv Sofia in the Bulgarian First League before transitioning to non-league football.
