Forest Green Rovers has firmly denied allegations that a supporter was ejected for bringing a bacon sandwich into their stadium. The incident occurred after the club's impressive 5-0 victory over Morecambe on Saturday, which secured their place in the National League play-offs against Boreham Wood.

A video circulating on social media depicted a fan being escorted from The New Lawn by stewards, with captions suggesting the ejection was due to "sneaking a bacon butty" into the ground.

In a response titled 'baconbuttygate', the club clarified:

• They acknowledged the video’s circulation.
• The ejection was unrelated to any food item; it was attributed to the fan's "over-exuberance" on the season's final day.
• After several warnings, stewards had no choice but to remove the gentleman from the stadium.

Manager Robbie Savage also addressed the situation during his appearance on 606 with BBC Radio 5 Live on Sunday, stating, "I've seen that, it's gone viral today. It's fake news. There was no bacon involved. I can 100% categorically confirm there was no bacon sandwich."

As the first club globally to introduce a vegan matchday menu in 2015, Forest Green Rovers remains committed to its principles while ensuring a fun and safe environment for all fans.
