Lottie Woad kicked off the final week before the Solheim Cup with an impressive performance at the LPGA Tour's FM Championship, shooting a four-under 68 in her opening round at TPC Boston. This places her four shots behind the leader, Sei Young Kim, who fired a stunning 64 that included six birdies and an eagle.

Woad, part of Anna Nordqvist's European team set to compete in the prestigious event from September 11-13, showcased her skills by scoring all her birdies on the front nine, finishing with a 32. She expressed satisfaction with her play, stating:

"I generally played a bit better on the front nine. I hit pretty much every fairway. The rough is pretty thick out there, so you need to hit the fairways."

Despite a couple of missed fairways on the back nine that resulted in par holes, Woad remains optimistic about her performance moving forward.

In the standings, Woad finds herself in an eight-way tie for fifth place. Meanwhile, her Solheim Cup teammate, Charley Hull, managed a one-under 71, and world No. 1 Nelly Korda finished at level-par 72.

In another tournament, Casandra Alexander made headlines by setting a course record of 63 at the KPMG Women's Irish Open, leading the event with nine-under.

As the competition heats up, all eyes will be on Woad and her teammates as they prepare for the Solheim Cup.
