Fiorentina's 100th birthday celebrations, spanning four days, culminated in a home match against Frosinone on August 26. Despite a festive atmosphere, the club faced a harsh reality with a 4-0 defeat.

The festivities began with a fan procession through Florence, leading to a spectacular firework show by the Arno River. Club president Giuseppe Commisso and former players like Borja Valero were present, while historic monuments lit up in the club's purple colors.

However, not all preparations were ideal. The planned renovations for Stadio Artemio Franchi were incomplete, leaving the Curva Fiesole closed. Nevertheless, fans displayed impressive choreography to celebrate the centenary.

Fiorentina had invested over €120m in new talent, including Christ Inao Oulaï and Víctor Valdepeñas, hoping for a strong performance. Unfortunately, the match began to unravel when Antonio Raimondo scored for Frosinone in the 26th minute, followed by a second goal from Gabriele Bracaglia and a third from Raimondo again, sealing Fiorentina's fate.

Despite several near misses from Fiorentina, including shots hitting the post, the team struggled to mount a comeback. This marked the worst start to a Serie A season for the club, now with two losses and no goals.

Commisso expressed hope for a revival, stating, "Today, on Fiorentina’s 100th anniversary, I am not declaring that we have arrived, I am declaring that we have begun again." The challenge remains for new manager Fabio Grosso to unify the squad and turn the tide.
