Filippo Ganna showcased his time-trial prowess by winning stage 10 of the Giro d’Italia with a commanding performance, finishing nearly two minutes ahead of his closest competitor. The stage featured a flat, 42km route from Viareggio to Massa, perfectly suited to Ganna’s skills, marking his seventh time trial victory at his home Grand Tour and tying him with the legendary Eddy Merckx.

While Ganna's victory was anticipated, the day also revealed key developments among the general classification (GC) favorites. Notably, Thymen Arensman, Ganna’s teammate at Netcompany-Ineos, secured second place, crossing the line 1’54” behind him. French cyclist Remi Cavagna from Groupama-FDJ completed the podium in third, finishing just five seconds later.

Ganna expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, “It’s a good victory for us here. We hope to be able to enjoy tonight and stay focused for the last 14 days.” He emphasized the importance of this time trial, noting, “This was a massive goal for me.”

Jonas Vingegaard, a race favorite, finished 13th, three minutes off Ganna’s pace. Despite this, he gained time on rival Jai Hindley and competitor Felix Gall, while losing over a minute to Arensman. Afonso Eulalio maintained the race leader’s maglia rosa, though his lead over Vingegaard was reduced to just 27 seconds.

The GC standings saw Arensman move up to third overall, while Gall dropped to fourth. The time trial also clarified the hierarchy within Netcompany-Ineos, with former champion Egan Bernal losing additional time to Vingegaard.

Reports indicated that several riders from Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe were ill, affecting co-leaders Hindley and Giulio Pellizzari, who managed to finish 18th, maintaining his ninth place overall.
