Felix Rosenqvist captured the Indy 500 title in a breathtaking finish, winning by a mere 0.0233 seconds on Sunday, marking the closest finish in the race's history.

In a dramatic turn of events, David Malukas initially seemed poised for victory after overtaking race leader Marcus Armstrong on the final restart. However, as Rosenqvist battled Armstrong, the two teammates from Meyer Shank Racing fought fiercely down the back straight and into the final turn.

With just 50 feet to go, Rosenqvist executed a brilliant outside pass on Malukas, clinching the win.

Rosenqvist expressed his gratitude, stating, "What a car. Massive thanks to the team. We had two cars in the wind at the end, and that's a luxury position to be in as a team. I felt we had the best car today."

This victory marks Rosenqvist's second career win in 120 IndyCar races and makes him the third Swedish driver to win the prestigious event. He dedicated the win to his family, saying, "I really miss my wife and my newborn child. I wish they were here."

Malukas, visibly emotional, reflected on his performance, saying, "I don't know what else we could have done. We were the fastest car in that whole race. I give everything to this team... We're going to come back again and give it 160 per cent."

The previous record for the closest finish was set in 1992 when Al Unser Jr edged out Scott Goodyear by 0.043 seconds.
