Zeph Thomas, a 36-year-old winger from Bradford, has become a quintessential football journeyman, recording an astonishing 39 moves throughout his 18-year career. His journey has taken him through various clubs, including Rossington Main (five spells), Mickleover Sports (four spells), and Frickley Athletic (three spells), along with international stints in the United States, Belgium, and Canada.

Thomas, a former St Kitts & Nevis international, now embraces a player-manager role at Dearne & District, a ninth-tier club appointed in 2024. Following their triumph in the Northern Counties East League First Division, the club prepares for its inaugural FA Cup match against Runcorn Town this Saturday, marking a significant milestone for the team and the local community.

Reflecting on his past, Thomas began at Rotherham United under the guidance of former Manchester United forward Mark Robins but was released in 2008 without making a senior appearance. He attributes this to a lack of maturity at the time, admitting, "I was a bit petulant and naive back then."

His career path has been filled with ups and downs, including a near exit from football in 2013 due to injury. However, he found a new lease on life at Thunder Bay Chill in Ontario, which reignited his passion for the sport.

Despite his extensive career, Thomas admits he hasn't kept track of his numerous clubs, stating, "There's definitely been too many to count." He encourages young players to seek experiences abroad, emphasizing the value of learning from diverse coaching styles and philosophies.
