Red Bull Racing team principal Laurent Mekies indicated that the team is receiving interest from "good drivers" regarding potential future seats, while expressing optimism about Max Verstappen's commitment to the team.

As Formula 1 approaches its final race before the summer break in Hungary, Verstappen's future remains somewhat uncertain. His contract is valid until the end of the 2028 season, but contains performance clauses that could allow him to exit at the end of this year. He reportedly has until October to decide if he wishes to activate this option.

Recent discussions suggest that Verstappen's representatives have talked with McLaren, but team principal Zak Brown confirmed that he is satisfied with his current drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. With Mercedes and Ferrari also having their drivers under contract, options for Verstappen appear limited should he choose to remain in F1 beyond 2027.

Mekies addressed the inquiries from other drivers, stating, "It's completely natural Max gets called from everyone because he's the best driver in the world...if you are a top team, you are going to get calls from many of these good drivers around as well."

He emphasized that the primary focus for Red Bull is enhancing car performance to retain their star driver. Verstappen has recently had podium finishes, and Isack Hadjar has shown impressive growth, finishing sixth from 21st on the grid in Belgium.

Mekies shared insights on the team's progress, acknowledging they started the season over a second off the pace but have significantly closed the gap. He reiterated that the team's goal is to achieve ultimate speed, which is crucial for keeping Verstappen satisfied.

Despite transitions within the team, including the departure of key figures, Mekies believes the focus on speed and winning remains unchanged. He stated, "Red Bull and Red Bull Racing only have one objective, it's to win, and it's the same objective that Max has." Mekies is confident that a united team effort will yield the best results moving forward.
