Scott Phelan has officially been appointed as the permanent head coach of Everton Women after serving as interim manager last season.

The 38-year-old took charge temporarily in February when Brian Sorensen was dismissed, guiding the Toffees to an eighth-placed finish in the Women's Super League. When Phelan stepped in, the team was just four points above the relegation zone, but he quickly turned their fortunes around, achieving three consecutive WSL victories early in his interim period.

Phelan's connection to the club runs deep; he joined Everton as a player at the age of eight and progressed through the academy, though he did not make a senior appearance. He returned to the club as a coach in 2012.

Supporting Phelan moving forward will be former Everton striker Phil Jevons, who also took on an interim role in February.

He aims to push the team forward, stating, "We want to try to get back to the place where we believe Everton Football Club should be, and that's towards the top end of the table."
